Lincoln Earth Day Updates

Recyclemania

January 12th, 2010

Beginning on January 17th and running through March 27th, UNL will be participating in its first year in Recyclemania. Recyclemania is a 10 week recycling competition between universities across the nation. Last year alone, 513 universities competed and recycled a total of 69.4 million pounds of what would have otherwise gone to landfills. UNL will compete in the Percentage of Waste and Per Capita categories. Last year, UNL recycled 35% of its waste and hopes to increase that percentage this year. With the length of the competition at 10 weeks, we are striving to influence effective life style and behavioral changes in our students and faculty that will benefit both the environment and UNL over the long term. Chancellor Perlman supports the effort and recognizes the “importance of individual efforts of every member of the University community.

Recyclemania at UNL is sponsored by the UNL Environmental Resource Center and ASUN. See www.unerc.unl.edu for more information or contact Katie Clear at unerc2@gmail.com
